Welcome to Southland Stitchers!

We are a group of people who meet regularly to stitch and enjoy each others company.

Embroidery comes in many forms: straight stitching to make a simple design around a bag, stitches to hold down appliquéd pieces onto a quilt, cross stitch pictures, counted thread work, 3 dimensional objects like Butterflies to make jewellery, embellishing stitchery on clothing or boxes and bags, machine embroidery. You name it and someone here has probably tried it or plan to in the future!

All and every type of stitchery! We have short workshops where we join in and put our own spin on a common project. Sometimes we may have a tutor from elsewhere for a 2 or 3 day workshop.

Many of us do our own individual embroidery projects joining in the occasional workshop. And well some of us turn up, do two stitches and then just enjoy the company for the rest of the time!

A happy group of chatty stitchers at worknight.

The Southland Embroiderers’ Guild meets every Monday at the Hearing Association Rooms at 126 Leet Street, Invercargil. Our workshops are 7.30pm – 9.30 pm in summer and 7pm -9pm in winter:
– The 1st Monday of the month is an afternoon workshop from 1.30 – 3.30 pm.
– The 3rd Monday of the month is our meeting night with a speaker, followed by a lovely supper.
